Hello from Monterey Bay

Howdy. I’ve lived in the Monterey CA area for the past seven years of my life, and never once gone out on the ocean until earlier this year, when I started to develop an interest in cruising.

I don’t have much sailing experience, and what I do have has been sailing the lakes in Northern Minnesota. But I’m looking forward in the coming months and years to gaining more sailing experience, and my goal is to sail as much of the world as possible.

Right now I’m interested in crewing, as I’ve heard it’s a good way to gain the sort of experience I’m looking for.

Hi and welcome. We've been down that way once, stayed in Pacific Grove I believe, visited the Aquarium, etc. Are there some yacht clubs you can join socially?

Re: Hello from Monterey Bay

I lived in The Bay Area from 78 to 16 when I moved up here.

One of the nicest sailing days of my life was a port tack from Monterey to Santa Cruz, autopilot on, cozy on the starboard cockpit seat reading a book, no crab traps 'cuz the water's too deep! 4 hours of bliss.

I'm sure Santa Cruz has weekday beer can races, most likely Monterey does, too.

I designed the HVAC for the aquarium.

Re: Hello from Monterey Bay

Welcome.

I would suggest updating your profile with your general location and your boat make & model or “Looking” in the "Boat" category. This info shows up under your UserName in every post in the web view. Many questions are boat and/or location dependent and having these tidbits under your UserName saves answering those questions repeatedly. If you need help setting up your profile then click on this link: https://www.cruisersforum.com/forums...ml#post3308797

I would happily help more if the link above is not enough.
