Hello from Ottawa

Good day all,

I joined CF a while ago but only just refound my link, silly of me I know. I really enjoy all of the information on this board - outstanding.

I have been dreaming of sailing off once retirement comes around (the sooner the better). I also have to convince the wife of how much fun cruising can be. Plans are hopefully only 7 or 8 years away.

I currently sail with a buddy on his boat (what better way to learn) on Lac Deschênes (wide part of the river). I've got my CYA costal navigation & basic cruising along with ASA 101, 103, 104 & 114 from a sailing school in Florida. The next step will be hopefully be a charter in either the US/BVI or the Bahamas this spring or fall.

I look forward to a daily read of what is going on here.

Gord.

Welcome aboard! Which ministry do you work for?
Hey, it's Ottawa. Since Nortel went Tango Uniform, he's either in gubmint, or a waiter. "Which ministry do you work for?" is the Canadian equivalent of asking a resident of New Jersey "which exit?"

Thanks for the welcome

Yes bljones, I work for the gubmint (lucky guess) - CRA, but don't tell anyone. Not to worry, I'm on the Information Tech side, not the "I want your money" side (even we hate them).

Phil, we don't get down to Brockville too much, but if we do, we'll definately look you up...May 7th, that seems so far away.

Courageous Cat, I'll see if the wife wants to join up, good idea.

The plan is coming together slowly, just have to keep at it...

Gord.
