Hello from Phoenix AZ

Hi, My name is Marty and I currently live in Phoenix Arizona. I've been interested in sailboats for as long as I can remember although I have no real sailing experience. That being said I'm planning on moving to California and buying a liveaboard sailboat with in the next year. Right now I'm leaning towards San Diego and I'm planning a visit there over memorial day weekend to check out the area. While I'm there I would like to take some sailing lessons. Could someone recommend a good sailing school for a multi day introductory sailing course? I've looked online and there seem to be hundreds of them.

Thanks Marty

Hopefully someone will respond. I'm not sure SD is the most liveaboardable place though....

Re: Hello from Phoenix AZ

Thanks I'm starting to realize that may be a bigger challenge than I initially realized.

I keep hearing that most of marinas here have live aboard availability but I haven't verified myself. I know for a fact that there are plenty of slips available...

Re: Hello from Phoenix AZ

Hi AZMartin,
the only sailing school in San Diego I know is the
San Diego Sailing Academy at Shelter Island.
(San Diego Sailing Academy).
My wife and I visited this school a few years ago and we were
very happy with them. They may have all the info about live aboard in
San Diego you want.

Fair winds
Martin

p.s. Welcome to CF, enjoy.

Re: Hello from Phoenix AZ

Thanks Finnsail, that sounds promising. I'm looking forward to checking out the different marinas on my visit. I just noticed the San Diego Boat Show is June 18-12 so I may hold off until then for my visit.
