Hello from San Francisco Bay

I'm a new to sailing, but I would like to retire to a cruising life style, just never thought it was affordable. I've taken the US Boating Basic Keel-boat and Basic Cruising this winter from club here on the bay, I'll be taking their bare boat course in March and will stay with them through ocean passage making.

Beside the sailing with the club, I'm interested in crewing on as many different boats so that when I purchase a used boat in a couple of years I have a better understanding of what I'm buying.

If you are from the Bay area, you will be amazed at how cheap it is to live well South of the border. People will pay you to live in their beautiful vacation homes 11 months of the year, same for watching boats. Folks live well on their SS checks, if you can imagine such a thing. Good food, lovely people, fantastic climate, sailing, swimming, snorkeling, diving, and great beer for $10 a case. Even nut cases from Texas can't bring themselves to go back home.
