Hello From Solomons Island, MD!

We're about two weeks from splash (yippee!) after working all summer on our formerly neglected 79 30' Cherubini Hunter. We will be living on her this winter until our wedding in May and then heading south... or North... we're undecided still.

We consists of myself: the female half, the captain: the male half and our little girl, 4 year old Z. We also have 4 dogs, Benny, a husky/ pit bull, Nala, a Japanese Akita, Puppy B, a German shepherd mix, and Jackie Poo Poo, a poodle/ beagle mix.

We've been getting the dogs used to the boat so much so that they try their darndest to climb the ladder. We know that it will be difficult to do this with so many dogs but giving them up isn't an option as two have behavior issues that make them unadoptable.

I look forward to learning and posting about cruising with kids and dogs.

Hello All!

Hi! Welcome!

Wow! 4 people and 4 dogs on a 30' boat. Interested to hear how the logistics of that works out.

Re: Hello From Solomons Island, MD!

I love Solomon's. We spent a summer prepping our boat there for a big cruise, and the people and place were both very friendly.

We sailed from Solomon's down the ditch to Florida, then uphill through the Bahamas, PR, Virgins, and on around Windwards andLeewards to the Grenadines and S America.

We had a crew of 3-5 people and 1 dog on a Westsail 32. A great 9 month cruise.

Best of luck with all those doggies! Ours was easily trained to use the foredeck for calls of nature.

Yep. And we get to Solomons usually at least once/year...
