Hello From South Carolina

My husband and I are in the very early stages of preparing to cruise with our two young daughters in three years. We have many questions and are hoping to get advice from experienced cruisers as we begin our plans.

Re: Hello From South Carolina

Welcome aboard WeGo! I used to fly a small plane out of Beaufort and Myrtle Beach airports, and spent several fall vacations at Kiawah/Seabrook Islands. LUV South Carolina!

Welcome. We keep our boat at Marsh Harbor on Lady's island. Do you have the boat yet, and where do you keep her? Be happy to answer any questions if we can help.

We are in Kiawah Island and looking for a bareboat to cruise down to St Augustine Fl. This October - any suggestions?

I know there are a number of day-charter type outfits around, but I don't personally know of any that will let you take the boat for a week. Try calling the big marinas in Charleston and ask them if they know of any charter boats available. I think you should be able to locate one without too much trouble.

Following up my own post.... Another thought. Since you are at Kiawah, check out Bohicket Marina. Coincidentally, I chartered a sailboat there 20 years ago.

Scott,

We currently have a Catalina 25 that we use for daysailing and are beginning to research larger boats for cruising with the family. We live at the end of Ladies Island. Do you live aboard your boat? How does the Hunter work for you?

By the way, is your boat name a reference to the BVI? We did a bareboat there a few years ago and fell in love with the area.
