Hello from South Texas

My name is Jerry and my wife Is Diane. We left the sailing world in 1999 and tried ranching for a while. Now we are back and looking forward to retirement, living aboard full time and long distance sailing. We lived aboard in Annapolis for 5 years and then went sailing for 2. Our boating background includes having operated a boat yard and as a marine surveyor. Let me tell you!! Eleven years away and wow! has technology changed. We spend most of time, when not working, learning about all the new systems and communications we didn't have 15 years ago. We still remember how to outfit and prepare for the cruise. Having owned many baots from mono hulls to trawlers and catamarans we have learned alot and have much more to learn. That's where the forum comes in. I look forward to learning from you all and will pitch in with commintary when I can help. I look forward to a long relationship.

Hi Jeff-

You are ahead of me. I am still a few years from being to leave my side of Texas (Lubbock) for yours. One of the crusing cats we are looking at in the Manta 42. After you have sailed it in some snotty weather I would love to hear how she did.

Jerry, where is your boat? We live in SA, and weekend in Corpus Christi. If you are around CC on the weekend, look us up!

Hi Fred, I'll be happy to keep you informed. I will tell you that I keep up with several Manta owners who have pretty much been through it all in just about every ocean. Their feedback is the boat does great. Little wave slam unless your driving too hard to weather. We have sailed offshore in 30 knots and found it to be easy to handle, comfortable, always dry and hast as Heck.
