Hello from St. Pete

Thanks for the add. Not a cruiser just yet. Currently looking for a Dana 24, Orion 27, or PSC 31. Found a candidate in TX, but nervous to sail it over to St Pete. There will be other boats.:smile

Re: Hello from St. Pete

Welcome to the forum. PSC's are nice boats.

Re: Hello from St. Pete

Being between boats doesn’t mean you’re not a Cruiser.
Hope you find your boat. Texas is a great place to visit.
It would be a long haul home for sure.
Cheers

Welcome to CF!!

The sail across is not always easy. Given the speed of the vessel, and time of year, you could get nailed by a cold front.

Sounds like you are a newbie- since the Dana is only 24', why not trailer it?

Re: Hello from St. Pete

Welcome to the forum! There a lots of places to stop along the way between Texas and St. Pete. You don't have to do it all in one hop. It takes a lot longer that way but like I tell my friends, "If I was in a hurry I would not have bought a sailboat."

Re: Hello from St. Pete

Welcome.

I would suggest updating your profile with your general location and your boat make & model or “Looking” in the "Boat" category. This info shows up under your UserName in every post in the web view. Many questions are boat and/or location dependent and having these tidbits under your UserName saves answering those questions repeatedly. If you need help setting up your profile then click on this link: https://www.cruisersforum.com/forums...ml#post3308797

I would happily help more if the link above is not enough.

Re: Hello from St. Pete

With any of those boats, the ICW is an alternative to off shore except the Carabelle to Tarpon Springs segment. And that can be done in a 24 hour good weather window.

BTW, I am a fan of the Pacific Seacraft 31 and Dana.

Have had three of their bigger brothers over the years-- one 34' and two 37's.
