Hello, I'm a Challenger Owner

Hello everyone,

I am new to sailing (past six years on our 14' Holder and several charters) and an expert at walking on the decks of our motorsailer, 15 feet above the ground!

I've learned a lot about boats, sailing, relationships, and life through the literal, six year deconstruction of our Challenger Anacapa 42. It's coming together now and learning something new everyday keeps me going.

It's good to know that all of you tackle and solve similar problems.

My favorite boat job.....sanding. My least favorite boat thing.....getting epoxy in my hair.

Thanks to everyone who responded to Christian's thread, Cruisers Who Fail.

Hello Crazyeye and welcome to the forum. Don't worry, I think most of us here are Challenged.

Wait, you said Challenger, not Challenged. Well, welcome anyway.

I'm getting ready to do a little deconstruction on my boat but sure hope it doesn't take six years. Good luck on the project. Hope you get back in the water soon.

Here I thought Christian was just funny - now I see he's lucky, too!

Welcome to the Forum, crazyeye (love that user name). We're glad you've joined the fun! As you'll quickly discover, this place is filled with a pretty laid-back, fun-loving bunch of individuals, eager to share what they know and to help where they can.

I'm sure that once they read about your "favorite boat job," your PM box will fill up quickly.

That's a classic vessel the two of you are restoring. I look forward to lots of pics of her back in her element as soon as she's re-splashed.

Again, welcome to Cruisers Forum. It's great to have you with us!

TaoJones

Aloha Crazy,
Welcome aboard! I'm working the reconstruction after deconstruction of my 42. Have done some keelbolts, rebuilt the cockpit, redone a good portion of the cabin top and install of toerail and repower. Still have a long way to go but each day gets me closer to resplash.
Our boats are similar in length and lwl but your beam is 13 and mine is just over 11.
regards,

Hey there Crazyeye,

I am revamping a 32' Challenger and she is a great little girl. Hope to head out by Oct 010. I used to have a Seafarer 34' and sailed her for 16 years living aboard..but I since bought a home. Ready to go again on 6 month sails.. Since I can work from the house or boat, this works for me.
Anyway, welcome to the forum and you do have a great boat. No worries!
