Hello - Mid Atlantic

Hi Everyone,

Long time lurker but recently completing 114 which has gotten me to register. My family and I have done some light cruising in the Chesapeake and I recently completed 114 in Belize. We are starting to plan a trip to La Paz for Baja. Maybe a bit of an icebreaker if you are reading this; What would you put in your "boat bag" - basically a dedicated bag - for chartering?

Right now my list is:
backup radio
drain sieve
collapsible bucket
5 gal water rechargeable dispenser
light tackle
28 mi walkie
flashlight
leather man/multi tool
duct tape

Re: Hello - Mid Atlantic

Welcome tm412,
Please, a little help for me, I need to know what is meant by "completing 114". My cruising and sailing life goes back to earlier decades and I have no idea what this means. My cruising history also includes many beautiful sunny days; therefore, when I spend time nearing 80 years old scheduling Mohs surgery at the dermatologist, I would include a high SPF eco-friendly sunblock in the "boat bag".

Hudson.. 114 is a two day course...
Your ASA 114, Cruising Catamaran certification qualifies sailors to charter catamarans at popular sailing destinations worldwide. Modern Sailing club members also become qualified to charter vessels in our Catamaran Fleet.

I'm assuming you mean ASA 114 "Cruising Catamaran".

Your list seems to be a mixture of possibly fishing, communication, and fix-it gear. Missing appears to be personal safety gear and backup navigation...

What is the purpose of your "boat bag"? Looking at your list I'm trying to understand what the overall purpose of this bag is. What is the difference in a “backup radio” and a “28 mi walkie”?

What is a drain sieve? Rechargeable dispenser? Light tackle (guessing for fishing)?

Who is “We”? Family – please elaborate. Young children? Ages?
