Hello - New to Sailing

Hello all-im new to sailing,so new in fact I don't start taking sailing school lessons in kemah next spring. I am however not new to water having driven race boats over 100mph but don't hold that against me!LOL my wife and I lived in st croix for ahile as she was working for the hospital there. We have a dream to sail and eventually start cruising in 2017 after we sell our home in 2013-buy a boat-move aboard in kemah and practice our butts off and in nov 2017 after our youngest daughter grads SFA University we want to head out for carribean for at least a 3 year cruise and most likely end up living back in usvi's for my wife to work at hosp. Well.. There yall have my life and dreams for the rest of my life and I will have so many ?'S in the future and will apologize in advance for the stupid ones.

Re: Hello-new to sailing

Welcome. There are no stupid questions but I have noticed there are a lot of stupid boaters - usually the ones who don't ask questions.
Cheers.

pirate Re: Hello - New to Sailing

Thanks guys for yall's support.I have been looking around the site for months now and some of the things talked about and described I have no clue as I have much to learn but I'm ordering some recommended books, learning to tie sailing knots etc etc, anything I can do and learn b4 I even start my sailing lessons w/south coast sailing in kemah. I thought I might be a little crazy with my dream of heading out to the blue, exotic places etc till I started researching and found this site and more-turns out I'm not and didn't realize the cruising community was as large as it is. When my wife and I lived on st croix we met a few cruisers at the bars in christiansted and always thought sailors were on vacation or retired etc. That's where the seed for the dream started I guess at the christiansted brew pub over a blackbeards ale. My oldest daughter is about to graduate Texas A@M in nautical archaeology and start her masters at East Carolina U or A@M and we are inching closer to that dream as the youngest daughter will grad high sch soon and start her degree in Elementary ed at SFA where she hopes to possibly teach 2nd grade in the islands. We are greatly lookin forword to the adventure!
