Thumbs up Hello to all boats lovers,

Soon 60, I sailed from 16 but never for real long journey.
I always got a boat, a strange "need", but did'nt used it much. Last year, after a sad divorce, I was obliged to live aboard of my little 23 feet sailboat near Marseille. A very interesting social experience...
I must prepare to be a retired, but not rich man, as from next year... So I decided to begin to study the purchase of a 40 to 60 feet sailboat, with the idea to live aboard, and probably to move to a part of the world where my new wife and me, will be able to live as well as possible, meeting different people and, I hope, helping as much as understanding others...
A open program, to be precised during the next months...

I guess it will be more difficult to find the good places to live tha the good sailboat, but I'm hoping a lot from the sailing communityn and particulary from all of you, dear members of this nice and free world!
Very kinf regards to all of you.

(French speaking - be merciful)

Hello Belprovence and welcome.

I think you have a great plan! You will find too many great places to live. The countries around the Med offer something for everyone at about all prices. Or cross to the Caribbean. There are so many choices for a good sailboat and even more places to live on it. Enjoy!!

We lived in Brussels for a few years and bought our sailboat in the Netherlands in 2006. Since then we have sailed around the coasts of Europe to the Med and across the Atlantic and are currently in the Caribbean. Here would feel like home to you....the French are on strike.

Bienvenue, belprovence.

Best of luck to you in realizing your dream. Several years ago, on Bequia, in the Grenadines, we met a retired assistant commissioner of police from Toulouse who had sailed his Jenneau 36' from the Mediterranean coast of France to the West Indies, single-handed. The French have a fine tradition of crossing oceans in small yachts. Hope to see you here in the Caribbean some day.

belprovence, I wish you the best of luck. This could be the ticket to put the divorce behind you and open a new chapter in your life.

Aloha,
Welcome aboard! You could even live on a 35 or 36 if you'd like to save some money.
Kind regards,
JohnL
