help new to sailing uk coastal

i am looking to buy a seapro 430hd which comes with a 25hp parsons outboard, this on the website says is a great boat for exploring the coast, i am not sure if this boat category i will have to assume as its just an inflatable that it is a cat c?! So what will i need to take this boat out to sea or even to lakes and rivers, do you need insurance to take this boat around the coast? how far out can you take such a boat in the "coast" sorry i bet i sound like an idiot and i am taking on far to much for my first time out to sea but some insight would be great many thanks in advance

Re: help new to sailing uk coastal

Yes it will be Cat C or D most likely.

No in the UK you dont need insurance or anything.

Be aware this is a dinghy, used for short journeys, Its not a rugged RIB. So use it for exploring in sheltered bays etc. Its not a long distance sea boat or anything like that. Stay close inshore, or use it on lakes or rivers where it will be fine

Ensure you wear lifejackets, get your self a waterproof hand held VHF radio and ensure you tell someone your intended route and return time. Avoid being on your own, on the coast , beware of tides, and return well within daylight. No heroics.

Consider doing the RYA powerboat level 2 certificate, very useful at this level

If you want to explore more coastline, a proper 5-7m RIB is the thing.
