Hi All

Can anyone help with advice or any information on crossing the 'Quoin Channel' on the Northern tip of Mauritius. My Son and three other homeless looking men are rowing from Geraldton WA to Grand Baie. I estimate they have 3 -4 weeks to reach the channel and the charts show rip tides with the current 2-5 Kn. Their average speed is about 2.5 kns. The boat is called 'Goldie' and is well equipped with Starlink and Yellow Brick tracking. The row is in aid of Parkinsons disease research and ocean research, sampling etc. All info on the website IOR23.com. They have passed the halfway mark with the only setback loosing the poo bucket over the side! Any help would be more than gratefully appreciated.

Re: Hi All

Welcome to the forum, Tom. That is quite the feat! I hope someone is able to help answer your question.

Re: Hi All

Welcome to CruisersForum!

I would suggest updating your profile with your general location and your boat make & model or “Looking” in the "Boat" category. This info shows up under your UserName in every post in the web view. Many questions are boat and/or location dependent and having these tidbits under your UserName saves answering those questions repeatedly. If you need help setting up your profile then click on this link: https://www.cruisersforum.com/forums...ml#post3308797

I would happily help more if the link above is not enough.

Re: Hi All

Welcome Tom! Sorry I can't help you with info on the currents, but I wish those guys the best! Very impressive how far they have gone already, and I spent a good chunk of my youth pulling on a pair of oars. Not as much as that though! If what you say is true about the currents, I hope they keep themselves positioned to take advantage of the currents; they won't be able to fight them.
