Hi All

Newbie poster here. New to sailing/cruising as well. The wife and I traded a fishing boat for a 1970 Columbia 28 this past Feb and have enjoyed learning how to sail. We have stayed busy during the relatively windless Summer upgrading, restoring and repairing our boat. All in preparation of moving her to the coast hopefully early next year. Can't wait!
Until then, we'll continue to read the posts here and learn all we can.

Thanks,
Rick and Kristen

Welcome ABJH:

Great people and lots of knowledge. I have absorbed alot here and I have been sailing for twenty-five years. Goodluck with your ventures.

Aloha Rick and Kristen,
Welcome aboard! This is a great forum and you'll get many questions answered here. Lots of opinions and most of them good.
Once a Marine always a Marine so are you still on active duty? Retired Navy here.

Thanks guys. No longer on active duty as of Jan 04. Too beat up! Hoping the Navy Reserves will take me so I can finish up and retire. Then, it'll be the boat life 24-7!

Welcome aboard. The Columbia is very spacious for her size so you should be pretty comfortable.

How about fleshing out your profile s we know where you are.

Mission Accomplished

Thanks for the heads-up, Sunspot. Ya know, I'm shopping around for a slip down on the coast. Any ideas or suggestions?

Hello All

Hello everyone, although we're relatively new to sailing (3 years of sailing when we could - weekends).

We started with a Hunter 23.5 and recently purchased a Hunter 25.5.

We had alot of fun on the 23.5 but the 25.5 looks like it fits us much better and it will enable us to sail further without worrying too much.

We keep our boats (23.5 - Windtamer and 25.5 - Sundial) at the Bayou Grande Marina in Pensacola and sail from Perdido Key to Navarre but hope to extend that now from Biloxi or possibly New Orleans to Destin.
