Hi All - from Sydney, Australia

Hi all,

I'm a newbie to this site, but am looking forward to talking to some great people and getting advice about where I can get back into my sailing in and around Sydney. I have a competent crew certifcate, (2003) so am a little rusty, but I want to learn some new skills by helping crew on other people boats and developing my skills, before maybe doing a course here and there to keep the formal certification going!

I'd be really happy to hear from anyone in the Sydney area that wants a hand crewing for day trips or additional boat hands for weekends etc.

Let the journey begin!

Cheers
Steven

Hi there,

I'm into doing any sort of sailing really, I'm a bit rusty, but would like to jump straight back onto 50/60footers where you need a crew. Otherwise, happy to network through a couple of smaller boats to get to know some people. I'm living in Coogee at the moment, so would like to any sailling anywhere in Sydney, do you have any recommendations? Hope your trip's going well, hope it's not too wet where you are at the moment!

Thanks
Steven

Hi Steven,

I would pop down to the CYC at Rushcutters Bay and see who has cre spots... theres lots of boats, never enough crew!

From their website
Crewing in races

If you aspire to crewing on a boat in any of these events and you already have sailing experience please contact Roger Wragby at the Sailing Office.

Great, thanks for the information, I'll send him an email.

Just took a brief look at your Web site, amazing photos, looks like you're really having the trip of a lifetime...something I aspire to doing on a boat. Good luck to you and happy sailing!

Cheers
Steve

Hello MarkJ. I had a look at your great pictures.... what a life.
I am trying to convince my wife to go cruising as well....
I have sailed many miles with a previous wife and I am just working at getting my current wife to love sailing as much as I do....I do envy you

Hi Harry.
When I first got her I was a little worried. I had a 30ft steel boat that I built many years ago in South Africa and I found the Albin very jumpy, like a racehorse compared to the first one. Now that I've had her for 4 years and got to know her better, I love the little boat... quick out of the blocks and ready to run at the slightest breeze....
I am contemplating on taking a slow cruise down to the Keys (or further) but have to convince the wife first.

There are several Ballads that have circumnavigated.
We used to race Albin Express, smaller lighter a little overrigged but so much fun. More than 1000 built. It be a great trip if wifey say oki. You could go some on the ICW from Norfolk soo you pass cape hatteras on inside. Could be a sellingpoint towards ur better half./ Harry

I regularly show her the whole trip on google earth, together with some of the fotos along the way
Unfortunately the season here is so short that it will be spring before I can actaully take her out on some more sunny days and have the sailing bug realy get to work....

Thanks for the nice comments. We do have fun with the website, but we don't get serious about it at all. Just stick a few photos up once every few weeks

G'Day Steve and welcome.

Good luck in getting that ride - I'm sure you'll not have an issue. What's all this news about a dust storm over the city? The TV pictures looked bad - and it will be a bugger to get off any exposed sails............

Anyway. Enjoy

JOHN
