Hi from SE Florida

Our plans are way ahead of schedule. We originally were going to wait till our house in Iowa was paid off, then sell it and buy a boat to live in(kids would have all been grown up and gone). Fast forward about 4 years ago, we decided to sell the house and move to SE Florida. Come the end of Aug, we will be here 4 years now. We just bought a 27' Helms, our first sailboat. We still have a lot to learn about sailing, but decided to jump right in. Our kids(10, 12, and almost 14) are just as excited about it as we are!! We'll have to see what the dogs think of the boat(great danes). We will just be starting out with day sailing and maybe a cruise down the coast over a weekend.

Re: Hi from SE Florida

Welcome! Nice little cruiser. You should have lots of fun. The kids will always remember times on the boat. The Great Dane's are another matter entirely. They never seem to realize they are so big. They think they are lap dogs. I would take them for a short time on the water just because they will enjoy it as much as the children.

Re: Hi from SE Florida

Thanks everyone! We had a house to sale up in Iowa and then we bought our house down her about 2 years ago.. I know, took some time...but we are ready now and a head of our schedule. I really doubt the dogs will get on board and I am ok with that. I'll take them to the dock at high tide when the boat is level with the dock and see if they will step on then. Who knows. The kids are all excited and can't wait to get out!
