Hi! Love CF! Moving to Florida! Please advise!

Have finally registered but have thoroughly enjoyed CB for a long while. Thank you for the many laughs and great info! We're in search of a friendly, green area in S. Florida where I can set up a semi-casual, organic farm and be within a reasonable distance of a cool marina spot. I appreciate any and all advice! Thanks in advance! Love to you allll!

Try the gulf coast or space coast. Miami an it environs tend to be a bit pricey, but if you have the capital, well, the world is your oyster.

Organic farm? Central / Southern FL or maybe panhandle, other wise land prices are insane when your talking farm acreage.

Check out pasco county just north of Tampa. The SW county still has great prices for water front with relative deep canals. Gulf Harbors community 60' sea wall 2000 sq ft house price arround just under 400 k, direct access to gulf as well as very wide intercoastal for day sailing in any weather. Few miles from there acreage available for farm. Many of our neighbors have a home here just for there boats. 25 miles from downtown Tampa

Key factor is your budget. Much more expensive South of I4. Also need to consider your market for your produce. Even in the North part of the state prices may be higher than you expect.

Re: Hi! Love CF! Moving to Florida! Please advise!

In the sandy soil I experienced in the panhandle near Pensacola I was able to grow radishes. Of course I was no farmer and didn't use enough fertilizer. The carrots were so small they were about the size of string beans.

Aloha and welcome aboard and good luck. My friend is in Dowling Park between Tallahassee and Jacksonville. He grows great vegetables. He's not too close to a marina but that might mean the prices are cheaper.
