Hi new member here!

Hi new member here . From eastern ontario Canada. Fairly new to cruising but we are long time boat owners. We currently own a 2760 regal "Frayed Knot" but are upgrading in the next couple years to a larger cruiser/liveaboard. Hope to learn more about larger boats so we can make an "educated guess" on what to buy and where to go with it! (south for winter)

Welcome aboard, Kizif, and enjoy the forum. You'l get more advice than you can use when you start asking about what boat to buy!

Re: Hi new member here!

Thanks all , I’m a power boater, and going to stay with what I know. My only sailing experience is on a 19 foot hobie. Was a hel of a lot of fun but I’m getting long in the tooth for a ride like that again lol

Welcome, you should try a sail boat... I was a motor boater and could never go back now
It's not always a high adrenaline ride, more often a G&T cruise in peace and quiet. Heaven.

Re: Hi new member here!

Ooh a power cruiser, awesome! I have been lurking in the forums as a reader, plenty of good folks on here.

What would you be upgrading to?

If I may be so bold, with all the reading and viewing YouTube videos, you may want to consider a decent size modern catamaran if you are on a budget.

I'm in Toronto, I haven't been cruising for a while, (got caught up in the work cycle, getting back into it plus getting into sailing hopefully) but if you guys need someone to bounce ideas off on, or some work let me know.

Cheers
JJ

Re: Hi new member here!

We’re thinking of a 40sh aft cabin, with diesel. Kinda on a plan to sell everything and go south for the winter and summer in Canada. As I just retired from the nuclear industry and I’m sick of Canadian winters. I do like the idea of a sail boat but I’m sure I don’t have the skills to operate one. Thanks for your offer Gin, May take you up on that. Looks like “my” boat could be anywhere!

If you can run a nuke plant, I'd bet you can figure out a sailboat.
