Hi there

Just joined the forum and looking forward to chatting and learning from you all. I am writing this from the office in the last 10 days of paid work. We take over our boat next Friday and get her shipped to the BVIs in November for a new life of who knows what - we have a plan to have no plan. However I will no longer be leaving home in the dark and getting home in the dark in freezing rain for half the year (UK winter!!).

Welcome Horatio! Where in the BVI's are you planning to launch your adventure from? I assume you have a detailed plan to get you to the "no plan needed point"? Anyway, welcome again to the forum!

There's a great liitle bar in the harbour on St.Thomas called the 19th Hole if you make it there. Loved St.Maarten too! It's there you really find out how much tax they're screwing out of us in Europe for everyday essentials such as ships grog! Best of luck!

Wotcha Swagman thanks for the reply - might see you on some tropical beach - just can't wait to get away - are you doing the ARC or similar? - we are cheating using a freighter!! The idea is to get to the caribbean without a knackered boat or knackered wife. Where we go from then is a complete mystery to me!!

Aloha Horatio,
Welcome aboard!! Tell us about your new boat? I liked Tortola, St. Thomas, St. Maarten and St. Croix. St. Johns is a great place to visit. Its been a lot of years since I've been there but the waters were crystal clear and the VI were beautiful.
Kind Regards,
JohnL

Hi Horatio,
Yes - we're off with the ARC this November. Saving the dosh so if transhipment is required, we'll use that in a few years for the journey back over.

Welcome and good luck getting the corp.chains off. I am leaving the work a day world in November. I like your method. I always say "Nothing goes to winward like a 747".
