Great to see all the Tennesseans. I am in Nashville, shivering, while my boat is on vacation in Oriental, NC. The twelve hour drive tempts me to bring Immrama up the Tenn-Tom. Wmiii, what was that like on an Island Packet?

Aloha Glen,
Welcome aboard! Your cruising area sounds great. A little cold yet though. What's the best months to do the Tenn-Tom or does it matter? Bridge clearance is usually an issue with sailing vessels so depending on the boat might have to do it mast down.
Kind regards,
JohnL

Oh, I spent a few months at NAS Memphis, does that count for being from Tennessee? They actually had a small lake with 12 foot Wildflower Sailboats on it and I sailed there. Pretty cool. That was the 70s.
Regards,
JohnL

Its great to hear from all of you. Looks like a warm weekend coming up and a good time to finish up those projects on the boat. Spring will be here before we know it! Glen

FastFilm,
Our Island Packet is a 37 and has a 49'6" mast plus wind instruments. We had no problems at all on our trips up and down the TTW. I think the min bridge is 52' but I could be wrong.
Of course, it's all motoring and you do get to talk to many towboats.
If you have never been down to the Yellow Creek area, on the Tennessee where the TTW begins, you might find that to be a good place to keep your boat. It would be fairly close to Nashville and Pickwick Lake is huge. And only 450 miles to Mobile.

Great to know there are some "locals" here! We're Knoxvillains for the moment, until we sell our house.
