I'm A Newbie Poster

Hi everyone. I have been lurking for about a year now reading all the great information available. I finally decided to join so I could thank you all for said info. It makes for great reading. We have a 42 ft ponderosa CHB and live in the California delta. We are not currently liveaboards, but hope to fix this problem soon. Hubby just retired so we will be able to spend more time on the boat. I am so looking forward to it. I love being out on the river. We have access to the Sacramento River which flows into the San Francisco Bay. Made several bay trips but have yet to venture out under the bridge more than a mile. However in 2015 we plan to cruise the boat to the PNW. So this coming summer we are going to do coastal cruising around here to gain some experience. I'm just so excited about the prospects of our new life. Anyway that's us. Hi and Merry Christmas to you all.

Welcome. Hope you make it up to the PNW, and hopefully crossing the line to cruise the Canadian Gulf Islands and the Sunshine coast.
Are you planning on sailing directly North?

That is the hope shorebird. I would really like to get up the inside passage. The scenery looks breath taking in pictures.

Hi Debstoy, welcome! Do you and your husband belong to a yacht club? The Half Moon Bay YC welcomes cruisers -- power boaters, too -- and we're just about 17 miles to the left once you get around the GG Bridge :-) Just mind the rollers that can get bad near the points and the shallow reef near the harbor entrance.

We used to but haven't for about a year. We are active in the San Joaquin delta power squadron. The yacht club was at tower park and to far to go all the time. They have others nearby and now hubby is retired we may consider joining a closer one. Just so many options available now since he doesn't have to be at work anymore. I'm so excited about all the prospects. We are taking the boat to Richmond to get the electronics upgraded this spring so we will have the time getting used to them before heading north.
