I'm back

I used to lurk here, even crewed for someone. But life kept saying no to my boat and I put my dreams on the shelf. Now it says, okay, and things are falling right together. I'm selling my house to one of my sons, next year and they can move in if I can get out before the house sells. Wow, I may get out of here this fall or winter.

I'm currently in the WOW phase, realizing a lifetime worth of stuff will be gone and I'll get on a boat and say, See ya in a couple of months. For now I'm building the kitty for a boat asap and buckling down on getting this house cleaned out.

Re: I'm back

Welcome to the forum...I rented my house out, so I had something to come back to when I had finished scratching the cruising itch.

Re: I'm back

Boaty's right, good luck is really quite important. But since he already wished you that, I will wish you a not too hard time cleaning out your house, and a speedy learning curve with your boat.

When I sold my house, I knew my Jim (we were a couple), but we were not yet married. My first life, the raising of my kids, had been done in that house. There was a lot of saying good-bye done during that final moving out weekend, and for me, crying. One gets over it. And if there are tools involved that are not going to the boat, maybe your son will let you have a corner of the garage for them, if you might ever use them again.

Please let us know what boats you're interested in, and feel free to ask any specific questions.

Welcome back.

Ann

Re: I'm back

Welcome back. Will be watching for your story to develop, as I’m on a similar journey, except I’m seeing my wife thru her finals weeks/months before I can sell the house and begin eliminating my belongings. There is SO MUCH stuff, it’s overwhelming. Then there’s the home value, dropping like a rock, losing $30k per month in my case. If I’m not able to sell in the next 6 months, it could seriously impact my plans.

How have you planned your finances? So as not to highjack your thread, I will post my “cruising business plan” on my thread titled, Back to the Islands. Feel free to comments here or there.

Best of luck. Maybe see you out there someday.

Bill

Re: I'm back

Welcome.

I would suggest updating your profile with your general location and your boat make & model or “Looking” in the "Boat" category. This info shows up under your UserName in every post in the web view. Many questions are boat and/or location dependent and having these tidbits under your UserName saves answering those questions repeatedly. If you need help setting up your profile then click on this link: https://www.cruisersforum.com/forums...ml#post3308797

I would happily help more if the link above is not enough.
