One thing I know SkiprJohn will agree with...
As well as most of the rest of us ...

Is that no matter how much we know... We are all still learning...

Re: i'm newbie from Malaysia

Hi Wagyu, welcome aboard. Everyone is still learning, no matter how long they have been sailing! Port Dickson is good! There is also a yacht Club at Port Klang The Royal Selangor Yacht Club- when I was there in 2011 they were trying to move it out of the main port area, and had built a new club and marina - but no-one was there, marina empty! Apparently the local sailors think it's too far out of town. Anyway, if you can contact the club, they should be able to put you in touch with someone looking for crew.
Most of the Boats at Langkawi (esp the ones at Rebak) are international cruising boats. There really are some very good buys in that area when you are ready...
Cheers
Matt

Hi Naptune's Gear,

So nice to meet you and really thanks for the informations. That's really helpful, I will sure go visit them and report myself there. Lol

Buying my own yacht is not an easy task, most important is the budget. I've check from the langkawi yacht broker website and really interested in some models. But before buying it I need to understand the expenses of it. How much it cost per year roughy and how much it cost for each sail roughy? Ofcourse the is experience come first, then only I know which type of yacht suite me more. And I also i need to learn how to tell the yacht still in good shape, its just like buying an used car. There are risk everywhere which I need to learn more of it before finding my own yacht.

Anyway, I need to follow step by step... There are no short cut. :-)

No need to start with a "yacht" !

These are the boats I learned on and sailed as a boy... I would jump at the chance and have just as much fun if I were get on one today!!!

You should be able to find something similar... AND for something you can afford... and probably learn all by yourself with just a little bit of help!

Sabot, Sunfish, FJ, 420, Laser....

Wow, Happymdrsailor this is awesome.
Never seen one in Malaysia so.far. Lol must be very fun to try one of this.

Regarding the smaller boats that you suggest, all above is not really popular in Malaysia. Might be harder to find one than a yacht, and also the price will be crazy increase because of this reason. End up. It would be better if I direct go for the yacht.

Wow... No portable starter boats... That's sad...

Even sadder is my result for a Craigslist Malaysia search for ANY sailboat...
