I'm Not a Boater!

Hi, I don't have a boat and don't plan to get one (though I've spent quite a bit of time on them, and would love to live aboard in Southeast Alaska, where I went to college for two years). The reason I joined this forum is because I'm going to be looking for a marine wood cook stove -- used, since I can't afford a new one! They seem to be a bit hard to find, so I thought maybe folks here would be able to give me some ideas on where to look, and maybe also some tips on what to look for (good stoves, bad ones, etc.). The stove will go into a travel trailer that my daughter and I will be living in eventually. (I don't like propane, and will have plenty of firewood available.)

Thanks, and happy boating to all of you!

Hi, Kathleen.

I think ssullivan (Capt. Sully) was looking into that subject recently. Maybe he'll chime in with some advice. Sorry I can't help, but wood stoves are not something I think about much where I live and sail.

Aloha Kathleen,
You might try an internet search for Dickenson (or Dickensen) Stoves and see what you find. They have diesel, wood fired, propane, kerosene so maybe they have something you could use. They are located near Vancouver BC but have an outlet in Seattle I believe.
Good luck. I was through K Falls last September.
Kind regards,
JohnL
