Welcome and fair winds,

The Caribbean is a long way from Seattle - getting there will be half the fun.

Hans-Edgar,
You will be following my wife and me by just a couple of years. Check out our log (Log of Yachtsman's Dream) for our experiences so far. We plan to leave San Carlos, Mexico, next weekend to continue our trip to Panama where we expect to transit the canal in June.

One word of advice about your trip: be very careful about when you start south along the coast of Washington, Oregon, and Northern California. We saw some really hairy winds (30-35 knots) and seas (10-12 feet) without any storms. The Pacific High was building rapidly when we left Astoria in May 2006 and gave us clear weather but much stronger winds than we had bargained for. Thankfully we were not going into it.

Hans-Edgar,

Welcome from someone who's already here! Believe me, when you get to the Caribbean, you'll love it!

All the best,

The next stop is either Isla Mujeres or the west coast of Florida. Either way you're gonna have a blast.
