NEW AND CHECKING IN

New and checking in from a blustery West Cork
We (Reina, no1 in CMD & Willem) enjoyed this forum for well over a year as 'voyeurs', absorbing all the info on it, great learning! but still having plenty questions left. Knowledge is useless if you don't share it and we highly appreciated your input so far.
Finally I will stop working in 3 weeks from now and to be honest it was a difficult process, pushed retirement ahead for many years, always loved the job.
Our ticket to Florida is booked to find our dream-cat asap, there is no way back and we are looking forward to this new chapter in life. We'll keep you posted and hoping to meet you all soon, Cheers, R&W

Welcome aboard and good luck. I imagine that ASAP will turn into Was'up once you're afloat.

Aloha and welcome aboard!
The search will be a real learning process and quite a journey.
I'm assuming that you have sailing time already and prefer cats to monohulls for substantial reasons.

Re: NEW AND CHECKING IN

Aloha John,

Thanks.
We have a fair bit of sailing experience, mainly on bigger(75 Ft+) flat bottom barges with leeboards, but coastal and inner waters only, nice and stable and great liveaboards.
But they don't bring you further than that so when pension was about to kick in we chartered with Moorings in the Carib, first monohull, we did not wanted to be seen on an ugly condo-cat.
We found sleeping at anchor in the ocean swell a major problem and cooking under sail also. Once my lady had seen our neighbor doing her yoga exercises on the trampoline one morning there was no escape from renting a cat the following week.
Still love to see a nice/classic monohull, but….I don't feel like sailing alone!

Keep u posted what the outcome will be,
solong, Willem
