New Guy

Just another cruiser testing the waters. I've sailed/owned sailboats since joining the Navy in 1965. I currently have a 42 ft aluminum cutter built by the Metalu shipyard, Marseilles, France in 1983. I've owned her, "Hazel Marie" since 2002 and have cruised up and down the east coast a number of times, a handful of winters in the Bahamas, and a passage out to Bermuda and back.

I'm contemplating a sail out to the Azores this summer, and then to the Med after a month of sightseeing. I've read a few books on this route, Jimmy Cornell's Pubs have been helpful in selecting the route, relevant charts etc. Any advice from those who have "Done the Deed" would be welcomed.

Plan B is another sail up to Nova Scotia, and then down to the Bahamas for the winter. I'm home-ported at the Naval Air Station, Patuxent River, MD, about 60 miles south of Annapolis, across the river from Solomons.
May all have "Fair Winds and Following Seas".

Welcome Bill. My wife and I are heading out for NS in May. We will likely end up in the Bahamas for the winter.
