A "tinnie" is also a small package of dried leaves and flower heads (of a specific plant sometimes smoked for medicinal and other purposes) wrapped in tin foil...

Wink The Dream Lives On

Hi All!
We are sort of on the back end of the "dream," having cruised for 4 years in our Southerly 115 back in the '90's, but everytime we're out on our boat, we relive a part of it (and often when sitting around a warm fireplace.) Most of our info would be outdated now, but some things don't change about boating- weather, sunsets, the terrific cruising community, and the unexpected. We continue to seek info on boating equipment updates, and shared experiences, so thought this would be fun to join.
Kay (and hubby, Fred- he's the "thinker" and I'm the "talker" in the duo.)

Thank you for that.

Then Swagman, go for the small aluminum boat... unless it's a really, really small aluminum boat- in which case, take the beer! Both are nice offers.

I'll never turn down an offer of a beer. No one's ever offered a boat and as for the foil wrapped package, let's just say I've got 8 more years of peeing in a cup. Definitly a cheerful and friendly group here. A round of tinnies for everyone!

I always supected there were a few retired hippies on the site.

But sorry guys, I did mean a cold can of beer.

Mind you - re aluminium boats - we did own a lightweight aluminium flyer that we cleaned up the Aus west coast trophies over a few season and guess its name?

All I know is that when I joined this group (a very short time ago) nobody offered me their villas in Italy, or any small aluminum boats, or beers, or "flower boxes" and I want to know just what exactly is going on here!!!!!

Let's keep the dreams alive. I am on the same page and plan on taking my first lesson this April, and cruise the Caribean in five years.
