New member - Freedom 35 sailboat based in RI

Hi, We've just bought a 1996 Freedom 35 sailboat which will be based in RI this summer. She's new to us and so is much of her equipment. We'll have quite a few questions and hope people can help us out. We'll also have some extraneous equipment to sell and shall post it to the classified - like, for instance, a water maker used once for a trans-Atlantic crossing and then not used for 5 years.

Regards, Faith and Bob

Welcome aboard cruisersforum, Faith & Bob.

Glad to hear about your boat. Hope that you'll get plenty of sailing time aboard her. Once you get everything situated?

Faith & Bob,

Welcome aboard - we also live in RI. We will be keeping our boat in Dutch Harbor. Some day we will meet.

Congratulations on the purchase of your "new" boat, and welcome to Cruisers Forum.

I learned to sail on Long Island Sound, (spent lots of weekends at Block Island) and am envious of the adventures you will have this summer, and look forward to hearing your reports about them on the forum.

Fair winds!!

Welcome from Another RI Freedom...

Faith,

I have been sailing a 1995 Freedom 40 in and around the Jamestown, RI area for four years now. I would be happy to pass along anything I can on either the boat or the area. I love the boat, and I hope you enjoy yours as much as we have ours. I also have learned a few things the hard way (how not to anchor at Cutty Hunk, for instance) which I would be happy to share.

Your Freedom

You have a great boat! I owned a 1988 Freedom 36 that I bought new, sailed her to Bermuda and back and sailed her 50k miles up and down the N.E. coast over the next 15 years. A very forgiving sailboat, solid as a truck off the wind. I still have a spare prop for that boat..I had her rebuilt in Warren R.I. in 2001 and then foolishly convinced myself I needed a new boat. I know her new owners are enjoying her. Too bad Freedom went power with the Legacy line. Anyway..enjoy your boat!
Dave
