Hello All,

New member from Santa Cruz. I have a 1967 Trintella 1a and have run across a few other threads from owners here. Looking to outfit her for some offshore adventures. Would love to talk with other owners and get any ideas or see what you’ve done with these amazing little yachts.

Welcome to the forum. Nice boat, same builders as some of the Ohlson 38's I think. I lived in Santa Cruz for many years. Are you in the upper or lower harbor?

Hi. Welcome to CF. More information might stimulate the replies you seek. How long have you owned or have had possession of the yacht? Where do you wish to travel to? What is your sailing experience?, etc.

Hoping that you'll gain help and useful information from joining and posting in the forum Trintella.

Always do feel free to post your own thoughts, questions and ideas here on CF. The forum only works when people post, and 95% of members here seem reluctant. Don't be a lurker.

Re: New member from California

Welcome Trintella1aSC! I have a boat of similar design and size and I know of a really nice Trintella that I believe is a 1a also, that sails around the Channel Islands here. In fact I have a photo of him in one of my photo albums. Here he is anchored at Fry's Harbor on Santa Cruz Island:https://www.cruisersforum.com/forums...ture30745.html

We sure have fun with ours here travelling around the islands! Come on down!

Re: New member from California

Yeah. A trip down the coast to Santa Cruz Island and environs would be a lot of fun. For hanging around there or really anywhere among the islands you’ll want at least two, but three is better, sets of ground tackle. You’ll be looking to anchor typically in 20 to 40 ft of water depth. Some places are tight, requiring bow & stern anchoring. Both tackle sets with proper setting should be equally capable of holding the yacht in strong wind, typically 25 to 35 kt when strong, sometimes higher depending on location. Otherwise, the wind may be light to moderate throughout a day. Two nice stops along the way are Morro Bay harbor and Port San Luis, about 20 n.mi. further south. Cell phone/WiFi service is spotty to non-existent at the islands, usually the latter if further west than Scorpion; no commercial services. You should have the equipment to receive NOAA weather broadcasts on VHF; check every update (4 times a day) but reception is blocked along some parts of the south coast of Santa Cruz Island if in close, etc.
