New Member from Florida

Hello all and greetings from Anna Maria Island, Florida.
I am new to the sailing world, and pretty much boating beyond the recreational.
A dream is a dream and as such should be attainable. One of our dreams will come true this summer. I will be purchasing a catamaran for current and future use. I have been and will continue to read books, websites, and forums. I will also be asking for opinions to glean the best possible information and exploit your experience, all in the name of better narrowing my search, make me a better sailor, and to keep my heading true. I am a 52 yr old retired Air Force MSgt with a love for the water. I tried flying but unfortunately cannot stay up in the air long enough to satisfy my thirst for the skies. Next best alternative is living on a cat and enjoying the other 2/3 of the earth. My wife and I of 28 yrs this month are wanting to purchase the right live aboard cat for us, stick close to home while learning the ropes before expanding our adventures in the (obligatory) 5-8 yrs or so to God knows where. I have been told that I would be perfect for living on a boat. I have experience in electronics, hydraulics, mechanics, engineering, and I also know that there is MORE that I don’t know than I ever WILL. Let me look over the site and I’ll get back to ya’ll with more particular questions as they come up.
Thanks in advance for your inputs and the provision of this forum.
Regards, John Moher

Hi John and welcome to CF. Plenty of Floridians and plenty of Cat lovers around here. Enjoy your browse through the shelves and feel free to jump in any time.

Sounds like you have a great background for maintaining a boat!

Welcome aboard, John. I sailed past your beautiful island in November, on my way from Nevis to Bradenton to put my boat up for sale. Hope you enjoy yourself here!
