New member from the Great Lakes

Hello everyone,

I've lurked for a few months and found this forum to be quite helpful, so I signed up!

I first learned to sail in Milwaukee on the Q class sloop Questa in the early 80's. My position was "Running backstays" for the first race season and later became headsail trim. A few years later, I was crewing on a New York 36 in Chicago. After 10 years on "Craukkan", I was burned out on racing and moved on to land-based activities, including technical rock climbing, mountainbike and road bike racing.

Early this summer, I was asked to crew on my friends boat for the Queen's Cup. I went along and caught the bug again. This led to my wife and I purchasing our first sailboat, a 1999 Jeanneau S/O 36.2, on which we plan to spend lots of time together, cruising the Great Lakes.

Regards,

Mike

Another sweet water sailor!

Don't forget to check your rigging every 30 years or so, and the keel bolts before you sell!

Unless you're a real hardy type, the boat is up on the hard for the next six months :-(

Haha! I have another 14 years to go then. Yes, it's on the hard after a very short season (purchased Aug 29th).
