New member looking for advice

That may be too broad a lead but to narrow it down some we are looking for advice on the FLorida Keys. We plan to trailer sail our MacGregor 26X from mid-February to the end of March. Our thoughts are to stay on the boat for 5 or 6 days then catch a hotel room for a night (hot showers and clothes washing). THen we would trailer the boat to another section of the Keys and repeat. I have Capt Frank Pappy's guide as a start but would like some ideas from peole who have sailed there in somewhat of a fassion like we plan. And I would love to meet people down there this next winter. Nothing like sailing with others.

Welcome aboard, No Mondays! I know a couple who cruised the Keys and Bahamas each year in a MacGregor (trailered it from up north). Lots of cruising resources are available (I use Waterway Guide & Skipper Bob Guides). You'll meet lots of other boats cruising the Keys in the winter whether you want to or not! Hope you go ahead with the plan, and have a fun, safe cruising season!

Welcome aboard...
We are currently in the keys cruising on a 27' Morgan. If your wanting to cruise the keys I would contact Founders Park Plantation Key Yacht Harbor, Marina. They have a very nice boat ramp and a large amount of trailer parking spaces. Very secure, and they will let you leave your trailer there. They are very cruiser friendly. From founders park its about 80NM to key west, 40NM to marathon, 25NM to Key Largo. Hotels will be expensive and there are a ton of Marinas to stay and play/with showers and pools. Check out the keys portion of the water way guide. We draft 4.5ft and have always found good depth and very nice anchorages. Founders park is located on the Florida Bay about 3NM from snake creek draw bridge. Well fair winds. Cheers.
