New Member Presentation

I have been reading this forum for at least two years, gathering a lot of info and having fun with your navigation stories, adventures, experiences.
I have been cruising with my father as a young boy, and later, in 1992, I got back to sea in my own boat(s) in the Mediterranean. Beginning with little fast motorboats, I soon switched to trawlers, than motor passagemakers, and finally a monohulled sailboat (perhaps a little too big)
Now, getting older, I think a smaller catamaran is on this way...Seems that my wife, who has always been patiently with me changing her sailing house every pair of years, is appreciating.
I'll try to post everywhile, now that ice has been broken.
Thanks again to all.

Sergio (from Italy)

Welcome Sergio

One of the great things I have found about this forum is that you get to talk to and create friendships with people all round the world. We can all learn from each other and those of us with more to learn (like me) aren't made to feel like dummies on this forum.

Cheers
Greg

Most wives seem to like catamarans. Some people feel that catamarans are a good compromise vessel between a power yacht and a sailing yacht. Having two engines and good range under power is a real asset. My wife likes catamarans, and hence, we do our offshore sailing on a catamaran.

I think the hard part is finding a design that suits your requirements. There is so much to choose from these days. When we got our catamaran in 1993, there were only a few production designs in our size range that were suitable for offshore sailing. Now, there are many designs from which to choose.
