New Poster - from Hot Springs, Arkansas

Greetings. I am living in Arkansas and seeking employment aboard a yacht but things are very tight. Former lawyer now chef. Studying for Marine Radio Op. license and celestial nav. Don't have a sextant yet but doing the theory stuff. Have several books, including Mary Blewitt. No place around Hot Springs for nav/boating classes but there's a lake. Maybe in Spring I will find some like-minded folks around here.

Used to be in ham radio (KL7IHP) but no gear here. But life goes on. Look forward to meeting folks and learning. Stay dry.

Do you still intend to return to Pendleton, and resume your Law practice?

Might

I might. Definitely going back to Pendleton. Have big house there. All my stuff is there as well.

I got involved with a client. Stupid but it happens. She was married. Hubby found out. She ratted me out to Disciplinary Board to cover her bow. I understand but nuisance nonetheless. I paid the levied costs long ago. Was required to take the MPRE again. Failed it in August. Scheduled for review and retake. Thought I still knew that stuff. But I can't remember squat without a course review. So have to pop for the class.

I didn't like practicing law. Boring talking to nasty and stupid people all the time. Did criminal and family law plus bankruptcies. Truly crummy clients. No happy times except for the rare times I had an adoption. Very depressing. So, I may not resume practice once reinstated. But I will do the drill and get reinstated. All done except for passing MRE.

I was surprised to learn that being unhappy practicing law is shared by many lawyers. Law school was fun. Practicing isn't. Good money but more to life than that.

Appreciate your honesty. What's the big deal about telling the truth anyway - we only go round once, if more people would just do the same, there'd be a bunch more happiness and less guilt sagging down peoples lives.
Excepts for me of course, I've got to keep my mistakes top secret !!
