New to Forum

Hello All,
I've been reading this forum for a month or so now and I must say it is a really neat place to do my evening reading. Lot of information here. I've never sailed before but have been around boats and water most of my life. Spent 4 1/2 years on a air craft carrier in the military. I'm planning to go to sea again in about three years only this time I intend to be the captain, even if I don't have a crew.
Thanks again to all for the good reading.

Aloha BD,
Welcome aboard!! We've got lots of ex-Navy folks here so you'll find good company. Ask as many questions as you like and I recommend the book "Start Sailing Right!" and any other public library reading material you can find. Dewey decimal 623 comes to mind for the boatbuilding/design and repair stuff.
Kind Regards,
JohnL

Hello SkiprJohn,
Thank you for the post, started to think I had offended everyone on my first post. Many views no replies.
I'll go this weekend and do some book finding.
Thanks again,
Anthony

Thank Chuck and Swagman for the greeting.
SkiprJohn I did not find your suggested title today but did locate a copy of Sailing the basis by Dave Franzel.
Figure it is a start I also plan to join the local club here.

I'm still in amazement at the wealth of information assembled here on this site.

Thanks again,
Anthony

"Start Sailing Right!" is the text book for the U. S. Sailing Basic Sailing Course. You might try Borders or Amazon or some such other book store for that one.
Anyway, the library is good for a lot of information.
later,
JohnL
