New to Sailing in Miami

Hello everyone,

I was born and raised in Puerto Rico where the ocean and boats are part of our way of life. I love traveling and just plain and simple, being on the water. I have been around boats and the ocean my entire life but never sailboats. I came across this forums looking to learn as much as possible about sailing, sailboats and anything related to cruising the world on a sailboat. I will be reading as much as possible to learn all the great info this forums has to offer.

I will like to know if anybody in here has exchange labor for sailing lessons. At this time paying for lessons is out of the question due to my current financial situation, so I was hoping to find someone who needed help restoring or working on their boat. I though this way I could get to know more than just sailing but also repairs and how things work mechanically. If anyone here has done this kind of trade I will like to know how was your experience and if you recommend it.

I apologize in advance for any grammar errors as English is not my first language. Thanks!

Hello!

Bienvenidos!

These forums are a great resource for you, but as mentioned, there is no replacement for getting out there and speaking face-to-face with people who are actually sailing. Many would be delighted to get some help from you with the heavy lifting or getting into tight spaces on their boats.

Sailing is a lifelong love, and some sailors are no longer as young as they once were!

Buena suerte.

Welcome aboard! You'll find lots of sailors on Biscayne Bay. Hope you get some good opportunities to sail.

Thank you very much, I am going to go the Biscayne Bay because I live right next to the Rickenbacker Causeway.
