New to the forum

Hello I am new to the forum so wanted to introduce myself.
My name is Cody and a few years ago I got this inspiring spark to start learning about sailing. I’ve been on many boats in my life, mostly fishing, and a cruise. None of the experience on boats included sailboats until last year. I rented a sailboat on Utah lake to see if I could take the boat out and get it back on the wind power. YouTube guided me into accomplishing this task.

My goal is to skill up over the next year or so and grow skills that would be useable on the water full time so I can contribute to the community.

My background in aviation electronics gives me a good understanding of all electronics and includes boat electronics like radar , communications, power , etc.
I’m an excellent troubleshooter and love adventure. I’d love to be able to just travel full time on the water and I’m looking for a boat now at least checking the market. It would be cool to find a deal on a boat that needs WORK and then get it done by doing it myself and then head out and not look back.

Safe travels all

Greetings and welcome aboard the CF, Cody.

You might be interested in “Basic Keelboat”*, published by the US SAILING Association.
Basic Keelboat covers the skills and terminology required to responsibly skipper a small daysailing keelboat.

Re: New to the forum

Welcome to CruisersForum!

I would suggest updating your profile with your boat make & model or “Looking” in the "Boat" category. This info shows up under your UserName in every post in the web view. Many questions are boat and/or location dependent and having these tidbits under your UserName saves answering those questions repeatedly. If you need help setting up your profile then click on this link: https://www.cruisersforum.com/forums...ml#post3308797

I would happily help more if the link above is not enough.
