New to the market

Hi All, we are newbies in the buying market and are seriously looking at buying a 2007 Bavaria 50 Vision - any pros or cons that anyone may have with this make and model would be most appreciated.

Re: New to the market

Welcome Doug.

To answer your question: no.

If the boat seems to fit your requirements, you know more about it that all of us.

You might get some opinions that all Bavarias are plastic-fantastic-bathtubs and only wooden long-keeler are for real cruisers.

You might get some general advice like get a good surveyor - have a place to put the boat once it's yours, make sure you find an insurance willing to insure it. All very true, but I guess at this stage you probably have this sorted out.

If you're unlucky the discussion might devolve into discussion whether keelbolts can be safe and that Cheeki Rafiki was just the first of gazillions. That won't help you.

Enjoy your boat if you're getting it, if not enjoy the hunt.

Another welcome Doug. Can't give an opinion on the Bavaria that you're looking at, but we just purchased a 2016 Vision 42 and love the boat.

Re: New to the market

This thread is about a Bavaria whose cabin "windows" popped out on the way to New Zealand. https://www.cruisersforum.com/forums...-225279-2.html The recommended fix is to fit storm windows over them. A newspaper article is quoted at post #10.

Re: New to the market

Welcome.

I would suggest updating your profile with your general location and your boat make & model or “Looking” in the "Boat" category. This info shows up under your UserName in every post in the web view. Many questions are boat and/or location dependent and having these tidbits under your UserName saves answering those questions repeatedly. If you need help setting up your profile then click on this link: https://www.cruisersforum.com/forums...ml#post3308797

I would happily help more if the link above is not enough.

Yes popped out , in the middle of a massive storm , not towing warps , lost the forward hatch ( or didn’t secure it)

Bad seamanship will sink any vessel
