NewB from Nova Scotia

Hello

New member here and quite new to sailing (finished the Basic Cruising Standard in summer 2021).

Now looking for my first boat. Budget $10,000 (purchase, maintenance, repairs, upgrades). LOA of 22 - 26 feet. Capable for 1 - 5 nights of what I refer to as 'sea camping'. Relatively simply to single hand sail.

Come to the boards to learn more about sailing in general and advice on the boats I am interested in.

As of today (November 11) am contemplating a C&C 24, Chrysler 26, Edel 665, Hunter 22, Tanzer 22 and a Tanzer 7.5. Have looked at all of them and so far most enamored with the C&C 24 and the Tanzer 7.5.

Enjoying the journey this is taking me on as it is the most important part of the journey.

Cheers

Welcome to CF John,

We did a bit of cruising in Nova Scotia a few years back. I think making landfall in Lunenburg is one of our great cruising memories. Great people and great cruising up there. Enjoy your adventures.

Cheers

Hey John, I went with a C&C 24 that was up three years ago for $5000... It's been a great little boat with a big boat feel, it's fast, comfortable, and big enough for me at the moment... I'm actively looking for a new boat in the 40 foot range that I can live aboard in the future, but the 24 footer is perfect for doing overnighters on Islands and banging around the south shore. It's a well built boat for sure.

Welcome aboard. I went with a Mirage 27, was back to sailing after a long time. Can easy single hand or take a crew. Big enough to overnight for several days or just day sailing. Had a C&C 25 many years ago, Mirage much less rocky although C&C was a little faster. Can't speak to thers, theres a lot of Catalina's in that range for sail in Halifax right now.

Re: NewB from Nova Scotia

Welcome.

I would suggest updating your profile with your general location and your boat make & model or “Looking” in the "Boat" category. This info shows up under your UserName in every post in the web view. Many questions are boat and/or location dependent and having these tidbits under your UserName saves answering those questions repeatedly. If you need help setting up your profile then click on this link: https://www.cruisersforum.com/forums...ml#post3308797

I would happily help more if the link above is not enough.
