Greetings from Connecticut.

I am so glad I found this forum. I am a complete newbie just getting started and I want to learn everything possible about sailing. This place looks like a great resource.

I look forward to lurking and learning.

Thank you so much for the warm welcome. I've been sailing a few times but, for the most part, I'm a complete newbie at this. My immediate goal is to get some time on a boat here in Connecticut to learn the ropes.

I admit I have no business looking at boats but I'm doing so anyway. I was a guitar builder in my younger days so I have woodworking skills. I wouldn't mind finding an old Catalina to work on while I build my chops.

Thanks again. Back to lurking/learning mode.

G'Day Bob,
Can I add my welcome also. Good luck in finding the right craft and hope one day to see you out there sailing.

Well I bought a boat. A 1987 Catalina Capri 18. The original owner had her on Long Island Sound. The current owner has it on a freshwater lake about 20 minutes from my house. He will sail with me a few times to show me around. I can't wait.

Aloha and welcome aboard!
My first boat was a Catalina 22. I'm not certain how the Capri 18 is similar but mine had a fixed keel.
Congratulations.
Kind regards,
