Newbie - only been cruising since 1973...

Greetings - I've owned one monohull and seven multihulls over the past 35 years. Whoops, just bought a Prout Snowgoose this morning, make that eight multihulls...

Former Professional captain, Vessel Assist captain, delivery skipper, owned/chartered 64' trimaran in Panama, sailed Atlantic ion 27'Wharram (I was MUCH younger!), sailed Med, Caribbean Central & South America, Europe...

Glad to share experiences ...BTW, my wife was tired of living ashore for two years, she insisted we get another boat and move aboard - now! What a woman!!!

Originally a Londoner, currently living ashore in Sonoma, CA - lovely wine country!. Bought a Prout this morning, should be moving aboard in Half Moon Bay (25 miles S. of San Francisco) in a month.

I'll be glad to fill in more info - I suppose I missed it! Any idea where I can get new spreaders from ? also, directions on lowering the mast forward in the tabernacle???

Did you sell your lovely boat yet?

Jon

Looking and reading all opinions.
However I am 6'4" and bunk size and headroom will be an important factor.

I used to sell multihulls in Florida. I started sailing them in 1972 (when we were considered total lunatics!) Maybe I can be of assistance...

Is this the Prout Owners section then?
Sems to have a competent skipper already, not only competent but widely experienced.
Looking to buy a Snowgoose 37 this christmas. My brother bought one new as a bare boat, fitted it out in the Middle East while earning shedloads of money and retired.
Originally Meander then Voyager Meander for the Mauritius-Durban race way back.
I was worried I was biased by his descriptions of their safety, speed and grace but if there good enough for Catmariner they'll be good enough to look after a raw beginner without scaring the Mrs back to dry land.
Next two or three years should be spring and autumn in the Med with summer and xmas back in Southampton UK for the grandchildren to learn something useful.
Comments and warnings about Prout buying would be much appreciated.
Trev
