Newby in SW Florida

Hello everyone!

I sailed a bit in my 20s as crew, but have been away from it. Now I'm in my early 50s and I'm interesting in learning to sail again. If I enjoy it I can see buying a boat comfortable enough to do trips for a week or a month, maybe cruising the Caribbean. Also interested in maybe charting in the Mediterranean.

So for now, I'm in the learning phase and found this wonderful forum and active community. I've purchased a couple books focused on boating/sailing, looking at online and in person courses, and hoping to make some local friends that sail so that I can get some exposure. My wife is also interested, but probably not as much as I am, so I'm hoping to find some enjoyable experiences to introduce her to the sailing life.

Looking forward to a lot of reading!

-Jim

Welcome Jim!
Where are you located? Update your Profile. Maybe post on Crew page and get out of a book and onto the local water for an afternoon.

Welcome to CruisersForum!

I would suggest updating your profile with your boat make & model or “Looking” in the "Boat" category. This info shows up under your UserName in every post in the web view. Many questions are boat and/or location dependent and having these tidbits under your UserName saves answering those questions repeatedly. If you need help setting up your profile then click on this link: https://www.cruisersforum.com/forums...ml#post3308797

I would happily help more if the link above is not enough.

Thanks everyone! I've updated some of the profile items to make them more useful. I'm doing a lot of learning and exploring. This has been a great place to absorb knowledge and hear other people's experiences!!
