Nice To Be Here

Hello,I am Frank Higgins,.at the moment I am in the process of buying a bavaria 34,the yacht is based and registered in. guernsey,however the vat, has not been paid.If I keep her in guernsey, and cruise to the Ilse of Man, will I be liable to pay the tax?can anyone throw any light on the subject?kind regards to you.

Hi Frank, welcome to CF.com

By cruising if you mean visiting the IOM (and therefore the boat then leaves the IOM and doesn't try and claim a 10 year stay as a "visit", whilst you also live and work in the IOM )......then should not be a problem.

FYI our French cousins give Jersey boats 6 months a year (if no VAT paid) before they try and charge VAT - in practice more than ample for the boating season.

Frank...May I suggest you go to the Plumbing Systems and Fixtures forum and start a new Thread.."How does My Shower Drain Pump Work on my Bavaria?"
