Permission to join and learn all I can

Hi Y ' all. Just want to say its a pleasure to be able to ask those who know ... have I lost my ever lovin mind? I am 67 and this is my first and only bucket list item. I want to live the rest of my life on the sea in my boat. Old woman and the sea, right? I know I waited a long time to find the courage, but I am a tough old bird. With God holding my pinkie, and a little help from some new friends, I think I can do it. Now to the how - sail trawl or cat around... What do you think? I am new at this board and posting stuff so apologies in advance. I am excited.

Re: Permission to join and learn all I can

Welcome aboard. There are a number of 60+ year old women living aboard. Myself included.
As to type of boat. A sailboat will in my mind, anyway be less expensive to operate. Smaller engines, cost less to maintain. My 34' sailboat gets 10-12 mpg on a good day. That is very good. A twin engine powerboat has far more room, but fuel mileage is 1.5 ish mpg. A cat has lots of room, but two engines and even slips cost more, in many places due to width.

If your planning to mainly stay in marina's with a few anchor outs, a trawler will give more space. A sailboat is pretty tight space wise, though I love my little boat.
