Regular Lurker - Finally Signed Up

I'm one of three folks on a sabbatical cruise from Kent Island on the Chesapeake to the southern Caribbean. In the Spanish Virgins en route a quick (?) run through the BVI aiming for Crews Inn in Chaguaramas ahead (we devoutly hope) of the 2011 hurricane season. Leigh

Welcome to CF. Don't be in such a hurry that you miss out on these wonderful islands. The tropical storm threat here in the eastern Caribbean normally doesn't get formidable until August and later, although Mother Nature can do as she pleases and throw us a curve ball anytime.

Thanks, and so true. We are Floridians and so we know that earlier than August hurricanes are unusual (curveballs notwithstanding indeed). We chartered (yup, we were once one of those guys, and have the shredded yellow retrieval loop for a mooring ball to prove it in the BVI many moons ago. We are just trying to pick and choose where to stop and linger along the way.
We will have less time constraint when we head north in November, and (boring, sorry) have some business and family matters to attend to landside in mid July to mid September.

Any particular BVI advice? We are imagining a lot of encounters with our former newbie selves! Leigh

Aloha and welcome aboard!
Good to have you here. I've only been through the Caribbean a couple times so don't know the islands that well. I did enjoy The Baths at Tortola.
kind regards,
