Retirement sailing plans

Hi everyone,
I used to own a C&C 33 and I loved sailing on the weekends. I've never done any big trips. With retirement in the next few years I've started to try and get back into sailing. My dream is to sail to the Bahamas and spend my winters there. I'm looking into sailing classes around Philadelphia just to make sure this old brain hasn't forgotten too much.

I've also been watching a bunch of different youtube channels for motivation. I have been reading cruisers forum for a while now and thought it was about time to say hello. I hope you don't mind if I ask some stupid questions. I have learned so much here already and am looking forward to reading many more posts.

Thanks, John

Welcome John! It's like riding a bike... once you are back out on the sea, it will all come back to you. And stupid questions? Well, I certainly have never asked or said ANYTHING stupid on here but... well, that may not be true... actually it is definitely not true, so don't worry about it. Better to ask now than later!

Welcome John!

Better to ask a stupid question before something happens than wait until it's too late. If you don't know the answer, the question isn't stupid.

Welcome to CruisersForum!

I would suggest updating your profile with your boat make & model or “Looking” in the "Boat" category. This info shows up under your UserName in every post in the web view. Many questions are boat and/or location dependent and having these tidbits under your UserName saves answering those questions repeatedly. If you need help setting up your profile then click on this link: https://www.cruisersforum.com/forums...ml#post3308797

I would happily help more if the link above is not enough.

Welcome aboard John, the right boat will find you at the right time.
But I have a question.
Why, pray tell, would anyone want to leave the wintertime cold/snow/ice and go someplace where it's warm and sunny?
