Sum and Ruth, the Canyon Country Sailors...

............just a quick introduction.

We are new to sailing and just bought our MacGregor 26 Classic about a year ago. We've done a lot of mods to her and were able to take some extended trips with the boat this past year (see links). We hope to be out on the water for a couple long trips this year also to possibly the northeast and also Florida.

I registered on here last spring and have been lurking and finally decided to post some. I've learned a lot from the site and we appreciate it being here and all of you contributing like you do.

We are a long ways from being 'cruisers' like a lot of you on here, but that is our main interest.

Ruth and I are both retired. She was with Douglas/Mac Douglas/Boeing for 35 years and I've had a few different business and lots of different jobs. We live next to my old business and I have the building leased out. We are about 90 miles from Lake Powell in Canyon Country and about 90 miles from a lake of any size in Colorado. This was the main reason for getting a boat that is easy to trailer. We love the Mac and it has been good to us.

Thanks again to all of the contributors on here and we hope we can add some also.

c ya,

Sum and Ruth

Welcome to Cruisers Forum, Sumner and Ruth - or, really, welcome to posting here. We're glad you've joined the fun.

I'm sort of from the same part of the country you folks are, except I was born on the other side of the Divide in eastern Colorado. I can well understand how a convenient trailer sailer like the Mac26 is vital to enjoying sailing the various venues in "basin-and-range" territory.

It's clear from your links that you've gotten a great deal of enjoyment out of your Mac. I'm looking forward to reading more of your posts, now that you've gotten your feet wet.
