Hi Smitty,
Welcome to Charleston. I have a Catalina 27 as well. Great boat to learn on. Have had her for two years now.

I have a slip at Folly Beach, good marina but limited access to ocean....Stone Inlet kinda challenging for a sailboat draft. Stono is pretty tame and has some wide open areas....
Regards, John

Welcome smitty, hope you get your boat to Charleston, lots of great adventures to be had on the weekends. I've done a good bit of sailing there since its the closest port to NC mountains. Your cruising grounds just opened up considerably. You'll figure out the tides and currents soon enough.

I spent a winter on the Stono, never put out the inlet though. Did go out north Edisto - short little ocean sail to the harbor entrance. We have family there, looking forward to checking out the condo docks up the folly, they sound reasonably priced.
